Hurricane Jose is now at Category 4 strength.
The National Hurricane Centr, in its 11 a.mupdate said Jose was an extremely dangerous category 4 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 150 mph.
The NHC said at 1100 am, the eye of Jose was located near latitude 16.3 North, Longtitude57.1 West.
A gradual turn toward the northwest with a decrease in forward speed is expectedduring the next 48 hours. On the forecast track, the centre of Jose will pass near or east of the northeastern Leeward Islands on Saturday.
A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for St. Thomas and St. John. Meanwhile, aTropical Storm Watch for the British Virgin Islands and a Tropical Storm Warning for St. Martin and St. Barts.
The government of Sint Maarten has issued a Tropical Storm Warning as well.
