Spring Welcome from the Student Association – SUNY New Paltz News (2024)

The following message was sent to all students on Jan. 31, 2022.

Dear New Paltz Community,

Welcome and welcome back! My name is Jordan Hennix and I am the President of SUNY New Paltz Student Association.

The purpose of this email is to inform you all about what will be happening within the coming weeks as well as who currently serves on the Student Association’s Executive Board.

The Student Association is the primary student governing and advocacy body of SUNY New Paltz. We are composed of three branches: the Executive Board, the Senate, and the Judicial Board. The Student Association has many responsibilities, including but not limited to: overseeing the $1.3 million budget that is made up by the student activity fee, writing and passing legislation regarding issues on campus, and representing the voice of the student body to the college administration.

Today, we would like to re-introduce ourselves as well as announce some opportunities to get involved on campus.

Club Registration

The time is coming where we will be listening to applications for new clubs on our campus. If you can think of a niche that isn’t filled by any of our clubs, programs or departments, consider getting your friends together to form a new organization around it. Just follow these simple steps:

Log onto Engage and look up Student Association Council of Organization

Download the Club Constitution template and fill it out

Have at least 10 members. 5 of them will stand as your executive board (President, VP, SA Council Rep, Treasurer, and one of your choice) the remaining 5 will stand as your active members

Make sure to have a well written Mission Statement

Go back on the Engage and go to organizations and complete the new club application

If you have any questions, please feel free to email our Council of Organization Chairperson, Brianna Hicks (councilchair.newpaltzsa@gmail.com)
